A 2009 - 2012 Apple Mac Pro Tower makes an excellent modern media computer to pair with a TV and surround sound audio system to listen to your music collection, play your local video collection or stream any service from anywhere on the Internet to keep you occupied and entertained. No need to deal with what service works with an Apple TV, Google Chromecast, Amazon Fire, Roku, Sling, and a heap of other devices out there. You will have a full and completely reliable operating system to use as you see fit. It also allows you to digitize that mess of old DVD's collecting dust and store your movies on your hard drive for ease of finding and playing them in future from anywhere in the house with the right high speed home network.
It also makes an excellent workstation and once upgraded to modern specifications will likely be more powerful than an Apple Mini with its built in graphics, and at the same time avoid the many inherent problems of Windows with the need for constant security updates, patches, and a mountain of malware. An updated older Mac Pro will run for years without the need for a reboot and serve up music and movies with ease.
